Cheap Concert Tickets Despised By Old Men

Analyzing the average concert ticket prices tracked by Pollstar, the long-tail distribution of prices becomes clear, with a few fat-cats charging up to 5.5 times the average $30.

Average Concert Ticket Prices

The data, which tracks the average US ticket price sold by almost 1,500 musical artists over the last 12 months, shows that a little under 1% of the artists charge over $100 per ticket, on average. Of these 12 artists, 10 are men.¬†Understandably¬†though, these are artists who need to charge more because they are young upcoming artists who are battling the evil digital pirates, and don’t have years of back-catalogue record sales to rely on: these artists have a spritely average age of 63, and have been in the business for only a few decades, give or take.

Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, Billy Joel et al: my heart bleeds for you.
